Street Fighter X Tekken, Tekken X Street Fighter Announced

At Comic-Con's Street Fighter panel, Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada took the stage for a brief bit to announce a collaboration between the two fighting game heavyweights. The first game, Street Fighter X Tekken, is being developed by Capcom, and will see characters from both series battling it out Street Fighter 4 style, on a 2D plane with 3D character models. This game was shown, and playable, at the convention.
Tekken X Street Fighter is being developed by Namco, and as you can probably tell from the name, will have the characters from the games in a more Tekken-style fighting game, with the brawlers in a fully 3D arena. They're holding this one a little closer to the vest, as they didn't show anything from this version.
Does this announcement have you excited, or were you hoping for something else? I can't say I'm entirely thrilled at the thought of another Street Fighter 4 inspired game, and it would be nice if they employed the full Capcom and Namco rosters. Still, this is a novel approach to the VS. series, which is already getting a more traditional entry in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Both games are coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360, and while dates were not bandied about, it looks like there may be a wait for both.

So Nightmare won't be in it then?
Hmm. I can't be the only one that thinks Capcom is whoring out SF games alot recently, what with SF4, the-probably-should've-just-been-'DLC'-SSF4, and now this?
Also folk were hoping for a Capcom VS Namco, so this isn't gonna go down well...
Are you kidding, Whoring out Street Fighter is what Capcom does best. How many games are there between Street Fighter and Street Fighter 4 cuz I know it isn't just 4 games alone. I'm still more interested in the new mortal kombat than this though.
But it's nice to have the classics come back after awhile I've been disappointed by the genre ever since I got a Playstation 3
This announcement does sound exciting but I would be more interested to so how it plays before I would think of even purchasing this title. I enjoy both series when playing against friends.
Also both series have distinct fighting techniques that the balancing act between the two series will be fun to see.
Repeating my exact post on Kotaku:
"So that awesome Namco vs Capcom poster that was put up a while back with other Namco properties (like Soul Calibur) against other Capcom properties (like Darkstalkers) was a LIE?!! No Soul Calibur in a Capcom game or Darkstalkers in a Namco?!!
BOOO, not all of us like Tekken, but it would be a day one purchase if it was the rest of Namco."
It's a cool idea, but I think bringing in the other Namco properties and letting people get a psuedo-other Darkstalkers game would have been much appreciated.
