Take A Gamble On The Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition

fnvce.jpg

Collector's Editions are certainly the vogue these days. You can't turn around without having a little action figure, art book or some such being dangled in front of your nose, begging you to spend more money and take up more shelf space. That said, Bethesda's Fallout 3 CE was amazing with it's little Vault Boy bobble head and lunch box. Now, Fallout: New Vegas is on it's way this fall and a new CE has been announced. While it's not quite as cool as the Fallout 3 CE, it's still worth taking a gander at.

Along with a copy of the game, purchasers will receive:

  • Lucky 7 poker chips. Each of the seven poker chips was designed to represent chips from the major casinos found on the New Vegas strip and throughout the Mojave Wasteland.
  • A fully customized Fallout: New Vegas deck of cards. Each card in the pack has been uniquely illustrated to depict characters and factions found within the game. Use the cards to play poker, blackjack or Caravan, an original card game that was created by Obsidian especially for New Vegas!
  • A recreation of the game's highly coveted Lucky 38 platinum chip.
  • A hardcover graphic novel All Roads, that tells the story of some of the characters and events that lead up to Fallout: New Vegas. ﹒All Roads‧ was written by Chris Avellone, the game's creative director, and created in conjunction with Dark Horse Comics.
  • The Making of Fallout: New Vegas DVD. This documentary DVD will contain exclusive video content, including interviews with the developers in which they take you from concept to creation and discuss topics such as story, setting, legacy of the Fallout franchise and more.

And of course, all this will be wrapped up in a fancy box with some typically nicely designed Bethesda packaging. No price point has been set yet, but one can assume something in the $80 to $90 rice range. Hopefully it will be closer to the former rather than the latter. Personally, I'd love to see some dice in there as well but then again I've never been able to resist a chance to roll them bones.

I find this quite hot, and actually like it more than the Fallout 3 CE (just not into bobbleheads). That deck of cards looks just amazing. Instant buy.

Oh Todd you are a sucker for a slick package.

I really want to like it, but I just can't find much excitement in myself for this CE.
It doesn't even have a proper artbook.
Not sure I'll be getting this one. Then again, I didn't get the Fallout 3 one either.

I wonder if Amazon is going to offer another special edition of it's own? Hopefully if they do it'll be better than the broken Pip Boy they had for Fallout 3.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
