Third Battleforge Expansion Comes Out January 28

Battleforge, the card-based RTS that was one of my highlights of 2009, will be getting a third expansion at the end of January. Lost Souls, a free update to the game, will be released on January 28 and will add sixty new cards to the game's basic set. Further expanding their dual orb system introduced in the previous expansion, these cards will have their own variations, meaning that the total number of new cards will be 120.
Two additional factions will be released, Twilight and the Lost Souls, expanding deck possibilities for players. The Twilight Curse was the principle story at the game's release and now the units are back as playable creatures, able to perpetuate the Curse amongst enemy units and buildings. The Lost Souls feature ghastly units in an ethereal, undead state to corrupt the enemy. The teaser site also hints that more surprises could possibly arrive as well.
I continue to marvel at the level of content EA Phenomic has developed for this free-to-play strategy game; a recent update added randomly-generated PvE maps to let players farm for upgrade tokens previously only available in PvP matches, giving greater accessibility to players when they started fighting one another instead of the AI. Battleforge is an awesome game and it's great to see that it continues to be supported by its developer with near-weekly patches and new content.
