Which Final Fantasy XIII Will You Get?
I know a lot of you are really excited for Final Fantasy XIII, which is due out March 10, 2010 (hopefully). And the RPG is going to reach a broader audience now that it's out for Microsoft's console as well as Sony's. (I don't count FFXI, since it's an MMO.) However, Square Enix has revealed that there's going to be a few differences between the two console versions. They have said that the audio and video is going to be compressed on the Xbox 360 in order to fit on a DVD, but even compressed, it will be released as a multiple-disc set. On the other hand, the PS3 version will be uncompressed and pure, while still fitting on one Blu-Ray disc.
I don't know what compressing the audio and video is going to do to the picture and sound quality during play, or even load times for that matter. I'm going to hold out judgment until release and see if the differences are actually noticeable, but at this point, the multiple disc aspect alone has me leaning towards the PS3 version. I think I would give up the Achievements just to avoid swapping discs!

Pfft I say 360.The swapping disc thing makes it seem old school. Might have something to do with the fact that I do not own a ps3 either. . .
I'm going with the PS3. It isn't a big thing, I bought a PS3 because FFXIII was exclusive to it at the time, so I never entertained the thought of getting it on the 360.
Going with the PS3. Not only because i'm a sony kid, but because FF XIII Versus will be a PS3 exclusive. I think people overlook that, but then again i'm a Final Fantasy fag.
From a first glance at the article name, I thought it was going to be about FF13 or FF13 Versus. :) Anyway, I only have a PS3, so that's the version I'm getting.
Right cause we're going to have so many problems with multiple discs and having to constantly switch them every few minutes. Load times could be an issue though but either I'm kind of on the fence about this game.
I'll get whichever version gets reviewed better, and in the case of a tie, I'll go with Xbox 360 because of Achievements and because I prefer the controller.
PS3 mosdef. I certainly don't want no compressed audio to be raping my cochleas.
I assume the only people who will be buying the 360 version are those without PS3s...
I'll be getting the PS3 version as well, Uncompressed High Def audio will be really nice, I didn't get my sound system for nothing! lol Glad to know it's actually going to take up more than a DVD's worth of data as well.
360 for me. I own both systems but I don't mind some disc swapping (reminds me of FFs of old) and I'm into the idea of real FF achievements.
Achievements take priority over Video Quality for me.
I'll be buying the XBOX version because I don't own a PS3 yet.
I own both a PS3 and an Xbox360 and I'm leaning towards the 360. Yes it will have more than one DVD you will have to swap but it won't be like you have to change a disc every 10mins or so. It will be hours before you have to change... just like blue dragon.
Plus I have a 120GB hard drive so I have the room to install the discs on my hard drive so maybe that will make the loading times quicker on the 360.
And I'm sure the naked eye and ear won't be able to tell the difference between the PS3 and Xbox360 audio and video qualities. But I'll more than likely wait till I read a review on how different the quality is for each gaming system.
I'll be getting the PS3 version for various reasons.
I don't get the people who say they're getting the Xbox360 version over the PS3 because of achievements. PS3 games have trophies which are literally the same thing. If you have both consoles, that's a terrible reason to get one over the other.
Probably go 360 just for the achievements :/ Probably won't be able to notice a huge difference on my low-end LCD TV anyway.
I'm going to wait for reviews to see which version has faster load times, and if the Xbox 360 video compression actually makes a big difference. But in the event that there is no difference in video quality and that they have equal load times, I'll go with the 360 version since I think that controller is more comfortable, which is a big deal for a 60+ hour game.
I'll be getting it on PS3 for sure.
I got into this series with FFVII on the PlayStation. It seems wrong to play Final Fantasy on anything other than a PlayStation.
we're going to buy a ps3 for this. we've planned this ever since the ps3 came out.
There's a rumour floating about that the PS3 version will include the Japanese audio track. If that ends up true, I'll be picking up that version. If not, 360 for me.
I'm going with the 360 version. I'm so tired of console exclusives. Not everyone can afford three machines, especially when the PS3 and 360 are so similar in terms of capability and how they are used (yes, I understand that there are differences, but in general). I fully support the idea of multi-platform releases.
PS3 for sure! It was meant to be on that all along. Plus FF with an Xbox controller would feel strange.

but disk swapping for xbox! how nostalgic! i wouldnt mind that at all. and the difference in audio quality wont even be noticeable through my tv audio, anyway.
I like the feel of the 360 controller.
I like the uncompressed auido and video of the PS3.
...but I think its gonna be the 360 for me. I love that this is multi-platform. And if there arsn't REALLY any big differences (seeing as I LOVE the way the 360 is set up as a console as a whole), then its 360 for me!
I mean, I played FF on Nintendo and loved it, then on PSOne and loved it and now it will be on the XBOX 360and will love it.
PLUS - its exciting to see SO many more people getting a chance to play this, some for the first time (which blows my mind!)

I'll be getting the 360 version. I really didn't mind swapping discs in VII, VIII and IX tbh - as someone noted further up, its very old school and I just like it for one reason or another [it's a nice interlude between ploty twist developments]?
Also there's only about 3 or 4 games I'd ever get on a PS3 [thus no reason to shell out for that, especially for the overrated, imho, Blu-Ray].

I don't own a PS3, nor plan to get one yet; there just aren't any game on it right now I see as system-sellers.
PS3 all the way - wouldn't even consider getting a 360, poor reliability and not a single exclusive game that makes me go "ooooh" (Halo = hugely overrated), compared to a metric s**t-ton of games on the PS3 that had me practically drooling on my controller. And then there's the paying to play online. Ugh.
I started this series on the PS, I'll carry on with the PS3 - plus, I hate the 360 controllers design and layout, so even if I owned one I couldn't handle FF with the controller. So, all together, PS3.
