Video: Star Trek Online
I'll admit, the phrase "I'm a Level 20 Science Officer, Ensign!" doesn't quite match Dave Chappelle's infamous proclamation: "I'm a Rogue Night Elf, Bitch!" But seeing the trailer for Cryptic and Atari's Star Trek Online gives me geeky goosepimples. Which is to say, regular pimples.
But while I'm waiting for those to clear up, the prospect of taking the classic peacenik formula of Star Trek and marrying it with MMO-style ceaseless combat is looking increasingly fun, especially if we get to match wits with such classic Trek entities as the Guardian of Forever (yon melted-looking rock portal, ripped from the episode 'City on the Edge of Forever') and take on (or take in, I suppose, if you're into being assimilated) the Borg.
Like almost everything else fun in the world of gaming this winter, STO will beam in on Feb 2, 2010.
