Stargate Resistance In 2010

Well looks like the Firesky third-person shooter, Stargate Resistance, will be out in the first quarter of 2010 for the PC. Oh, what's that? Never heard of the game? Well that's probably because they just announced it. You might remember FIresky as the development team of Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment that was suppose to be delivering the Stargate Worlds MMO to everyone earlier this year. Turns out that the company, like many smaller game companies this year, has been having some financial troubles; however, in spite of all that, they are blazing ahead, enough so that they are going to be able to release this team-based third-person shooter based in the same Stargate universe next year.
The game allows players to play as a team with class based characters in your standard shooter scenarios: team deathmatch, domination, and capture the 'tech'. Players will choose one of the two warring sides int he conflict, the Stargate Command humans or the menacing Systems Lords, and battle for control of the universe. The developers also plan to bring a ranking system and scoreboards to the game as well as a persistent effect in the universe based upon which side (human or alien) is doing better.
For those of you worried as to what it means that an MMO studio is putting out a shooter before their MMO, relax. They had this to say about their future:
As well as building this new exciting product, paramount to Firesky's long-term future is restoring your confidence and trust in us. ... Continue to stick with us. I know you'll enjoy the fast-paced action Resistance has in store for you while we continue to work towards SGW's release.
So all you Stargate fans out there, keep your eyes peeled next year for this game if you need something to help whet your appetite until you can get your hands on the MMO. System requirements after the jump
