New Final Fantasy XIII Screenshots, Twitter, Facebook

Now that the date of March 9, 2010 has been firmly ingrained in the head of ever fan of the Final Fantasy series, since that's the date of the release of Final Fantasy XIII outside of Japan, it looks as though our benevolent Square-Enix overlords have decided to give us a batch of eye candy screenshots from the game to help keep our appetites in check. Below you can see a wide assortment of screenshots from both battle sequences and landscapes that you'll encounter while playing the game, most of which do not appear to be pre-rendered video shots. I have to admit, Square-Enix always does deliver when it comes to the visuals.

Just in case you want your FF news more up to them minute and tech savvy, it looks as though Final Fantasy XIII is going internet 2.0 now too. That's right, you can now get all the news, items and updates on the game through either Facebook or Twitter. I'll gladly pass in making myself a fan of the game yet on Facebook, since that kind of devotion requires a digital commitment I just can't make after the last game in the series broke my heart. Who knows though, maybe come March I'll be able to move pass it, but until then I'm just going to give you bittersweet updates to the game as they come. Enjoy.

Anyone else notice how little they touch upon the story? This looks like another Square Enix game that is going to be very pretty...but the story is probably going to be some trite, cliched plot that you can 'smell' a mile away. I have played FF12 and I will say that I found myself falling asleep some times because of the slow and some what involving story and the two dimensional characters with their airbrushed abs.

I liked FFXII's stylized graphics (aka airbrushed abs) >_>

But anyway...I think there is a pretty strong emphasis on the story in many of the reviews out there now, and the trailers have always been hinting at the story, but really, I personally don't want the whole story given away in a trailer/preview articles so I can't say I share that complaint.

As for FFXIII's Facebook and Twitter...I wonder how relevant it will be, SE generally pretends the internet doesn't exist and releases months old information to North America that fans already know about from Japan, and thinks that this is exciting to us? Will these new sources just be more of that? >_>

Ah well, I might keep tabs on the twitter, hopefully they'll announce a western Special Edition soon for NA and EU.

I hope the story is good. But from what I've seen, I won't be holding my breath.

Also I agree with Noa on FFXII. Story was convoluted and kinda dull. The battle system and hunts are what made me love the game.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
