Mega Man 10 Coming To WiiWare! Get Ready For Sheep Man

The newest issue of Nintendo Power magazine holds a very special treat which, assuming you read this article's title, I have a feeling you can guess what it is. That's right, the Blue Bomber is back for more power leeching and punishingly difficult gameplay in a retro styled sequel that should finally quiet those people who claim that Mega Man X is meant to be Mega Man 10. A scan of the Nintendo Power article can be found here, or you can keep reading on this very same page to get all the juicy details.
Like Mega Man 9, 10 will feature NES style graphics with gameplay mechanics taken out of the Mega Man 2 rulebook. That means no charge beam and no sliding for Mega Man. But unlike his last outing, Mega Man won't be alone. Proto Man may have been available in Mega Man 9 through DLC, but in 10 he's a playable option right from the start, giving you those abilities that Mega Man seems to have forgotten with the added bonus of a shield for deflecting enemy fire. There will also be a third playable character from the get go, though Capcom isn't ready to let that character's identity slip just yet. Roll? Bass? Servbot? Oh how I do hope it's Servbot.
Of course, as in any Mega Man game, the stages and bosses are the real stars of Mega Man 10. One of the creative new stages takes place inside a computer, with microchip platforms and mouse cursor enemies that attack by drawing boxes on the screen. This is followed by the boss Sheep Man who, quite literally a puff ball with arms and legs, attacks with static electricity storm clouds flying from his woolly exterior.
Mega Man 9 was a much welcomed blast from the past, and it looks like Mega Man 10 is set to continue that trend. It's slated for release sometime in 2010, though there's no indication as to how long into next year we'll need to wait for its release. Hopefully the wait won't be too long though, because this downloadable title just shot to the top of my 2010 gaming wishlist.
