Heavy Rain Might Get Playable Demo And DLC Episodes

Gamers looking forward to Quantic Dream's upcoming "interactive drama" Heavy Rain get some very exciting news thanks to a Joystiq interview with executive producer Guillaume de Fondaumiere. DLC story content for Heavy Rain is in the works over at Quantic Dream, as according to Fondaumiere, "Buy the game, don't sell it. Keep it to yourself. You'll need it to continue and experience more episodes in the months following the launch of the game." As long as Heavy Rain doesn't take a bizarre twist like Indigo Prophecy did toward the end, I'll gladly play DLC to delve deeper into the story. That is, assuming that Heavy Rain's story can stand on its own first.

Post-launch DLC is great news, but what about those of us who are impatiently waiting until February to play Heavy Rain? How about a playable demo? No concrete date is set for a demo, but Fondaumiere makes it sound like a sure thing. "It's a difficult game to market," Fondaumiere said, "because it's difficult for people to understand what it is unless they experience it. So we have to show it to them. We probably have to give them a playable demo for them to see and experience for themselves how different and unique this experience is."

With both pre-release and post-release plans in place, Quantic Dream seems to be betting big on Heavy Rain's success. We'll know in February, or possibly sooner if there is a demo, if it was a gamble worth taking.
