Gearbox Trademark Suggests Borderlands Sequel "Borderworlds"

Gearbox took a big risk with Borderlands, bringing out a genre blending new IP with cel-shaded visuals, and that risk has paid off with nearly unanimous praise for the quirky shooter. After all, how can anyone resist a game that gives you pistols that shoot rockets? So how does Gearbox follow up on the success of risk taking? Sequels, of course, and it looks like that is exactly what Gearbox is planning to do. A trademark was found, filed by Gearbox Software, for the name "Borderworlds."
I believe this will be the end of me. Borderlands has become an addiction, with my only real complaint that there isn't enough environment variety. The thought of more loot hunting in an expansive setting that includes multiple worlds fills me with a glee that is actually quite terrifying. Isn't it enough for Gearbox to create digital crack without the need to lace it with nicotine?
Of course, as is always the case with these trademark filings, nothing can be confirmed at this point. In fact, the trademark was initially filed in 2007, with the recent activity merely Gearbox renewing the claim. Gearbox also tends to have a knack for long development times, so if there is a sequel in the works perhaps there will be time to detox from the first game's addicting charm.
Will the sequel to Borderlands be called 'Borderworlds'? [Destructoid]
