Final Fantasy Fabulous: Get Serah's Look For 9350 Yen
Granted, she may be the simplest-dressed character in this (or any) Final Fantasy game, so this is about the only time you'll find such affordable from-the-box cosplay (or crossplay), but a Japanese blog has compiled and annotated all the required elements from Serah's outfit, as seen to the right and as featured in Final Fantasy XIII.
Without going into too much detail, Serah is a side character who is closely tied to the player-characters Lightning and Snow. Though her girlish innocence lends well to her potential damsel-in-distress role, her romance with the scruffy, vaguely older Snow already has some squick-shields raised among internet denizens.
Even if there may only be a couple dozen people in the world over 18 who could pull off that look, it's nice to see the effort being made to give budding cosplayers a no-brainer guide to an outfit from what will definitely be one of the biggest games of next year. It'd be great if there were more quick guides to matching the outrageous styles that come from JRPGs on a budget, even if some minor alterations may be necessary to complete the branded look.
The blog and the store it references are both in Japanese, so don't expect to take full advantage of this handy service unless you're based in that far land. Still, with stockings like those, isn't it the thought that counts?

what is with those bangs? it looks like someone just glued some tracks to her forehead.
Didn't Selphie in FF8 just have a yellow sundress type thing and a pair of brown boots? That's the simplest I've seen.
