Australia Not Banning AvP

I'm guessing they're not going to give each other hugs.

Word was that Australia was set to ban the upcoming Aliens vs. Predator game, citing its gore and extreme violence.

It looks like that may not be happening. Somehow, both classifying it as science fiction alongside justifications that there are stretches of non-violence puts it in a wholly different category than, let's say, Left 4 Dead 2. While I'm not sure I'd agree with that assertion, I have yet to actually play the former title.

Rebellion has consistently stated that the game is meant for adults, meaning Australia's lack of such a classification is the problem, and that they would not release a sanitized version of the game. It now appears they will not have to worry about any such measures.

Sony seems pleased by the measure, stating, "This is a big win for Australian gamers. We applaud the Classification Review Board on making a decision that clearly considers the context of the game, and is in line with the modern expectations of reasonable Australians."

It is certainly a move I did not foresee coming.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
