2012: 230 Million Chinese Online Gamers?

John Cusack won't tell you this when you go see his new disaster flick, but here's the real reason the world may end in 2012: an estimated 230 million Chinese citizens will be online gamers by then, with expected revenues reaching $10.7 billion. China's current online gaming population is a mere 69 million, and brings down revenues around $3.8 billion.
With only 27% of the Chinese people online, there's plenty of room for expansion - by contrast, the US has an estimated 74.1% internet penetration. (I myself have achieved total internet penetration, but only after a weekend of yoga and Kegels.)
Nearby South Korea and Japan also have greater than 70% internet availability. When China catches up to its neighbors, the Far East will become a juggernaut of net access, the Earth's crust will liquefy, and Amanda Peet will learn to act. End. Of. World.

I remember Tiny's total internet penetration (TIP). It was a saga, alright. First just the search engines and the news sources, then all non-commercial sites, and then finally all the sites that ran on kewt kitteh pictures. Surprisingly, he was back to normal in no time needing little more than a sitz bath during the podcast that week.
