Ubisoft Plans Return To Sands Of Time

The image we have so far; let's hope it's not the final.

Announced today, it appears Ubisoft is planning on continuing its prior franchise with regards to the Prince of Persia storyline, introducing its latest game, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. With the attention the film will be garnering, and some peoples' disappointment with the new prince (I don't really number among those), this decision will be sure to draw in old and new gamers.

Not much has been released about the game, but here's the press release information:

Today Ubisoft announced that Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands(TM) video game is in development and is scheduled to be released May 2010 for consoles and handhelds. This new installment in the critically-acclaimed franchise marks the return to the Prince of Persia® Sands of Time storyline. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands(TM) will feature many of the fan-favorite elements from the original series as well as new gameplay innovations that gamers have come to expect from the Prince of Persia brand.

Considering how close the release date is, relatively, more information should be forthcoming pretty soon.
