The Stonewall Family Is WoW.com's Guild Of The Month

As MMO giant World of Warcraft turns 5 years old, it's great to see the progress that Blizzard has made in terms of service, gameplay, and how they've learned and grown to embrace their GLBT community. It hasn't always been easy, but it's pretty clear that the developer appreciates their queer fans and what they do for them. The most recent example of rainbow colored devotion to the MMO is the announcement of The Stonewall Family winning the official Guild of The Month contest for October.
So what did the guild do to win such recognition? They simply put together a guild biography that explains who they are, the history of the guild, and what makes them some of the best people to roam with through Azeroth. For those unfamiliar with the guild and its goals...
Our meta-guild, The Stonewall Family, originally started as a single guild - La Familia de Stonewall. It was founded in late 2007 by a handful of friends who had tried other gay/lesbian/bi/transgender and LGBT-friendly raiding guilds... but always felt they were somewhat lost in the shuffle, and never really felt a sense of "family". They wanted to start a guild where the social aspects of play and friendships were the most important factor, and where they would be able to avoid any anti-lgbt harassment. From that small group of friends, we have grown to a "meta-guild" of over 700 members across 5 sub-guilds today. [La Familia De Stonewall, The Family of Stonewall, Stonewall Rioters, Die Familie von Stonewall, La Banque de Stonewall]
I know it sounds cheesy to say, but things like this guild help many people in a variety of ways. No matter if someone is trying to find some pals to quest with or if they are having personal struggles and just needing someone to talk to, it's great to see that this supportive community can be such a positive influence and bring people together. This is especially impressive within an online culture that may not be initially welcoming for those who are just a little bit different. So let's all send out some big congrats, hugs, and thank you's to The Stonewall Family and all their members!

I hate to burst your bubble, but WoW.com hasn't got anything to do with Blizzard. This isn't an "official" anything.
Kudos to WoW.com for recognising The Stonewall Family in this way, though. It's always good to see stuff like this on non-gay websites.
