Return to Ostagar With More Dragon Age DLC

Are you one of the large number of people upset about the day 1 Dragon Age: Origins DLC? Well it looks like Bioware has listened to your complaints and will be releasing more DLC after the game's release too. See, Bioware and EA do care about you. And your wallet.
The following may contain story spoilers from the first few hours of the game, which have probably already been spoiled for you by now anyway.
The first piece of fresh DLC content was announced yesterday titled Return to Ostagar, which let's you, wait for it, return to Ostagar. After the tragic battle of Ostagar the darkspawn have taken over, and this DLC allows you to return to the battle site to fight back the darkspawn and reclaim the fallen King's armor. The DLC also gives you another opportunity to recruit the dog character into your party if you missed his side-quest in Ostagar the first time around.
Personally, I'll be holding off from getting this particular DLC since the King's weapons and armor seems to be the main draw and my mage character would have no use for them. I also have yet to find a use for the dog in my party, so I can't really say that people who missed out on him are missing that much. It will be interesting though to see if the content will take full advantage of the implications of wearing the armor of a recently deceased King, which I imagine should cause some unfavorable reactions from most other characters you meet during the game.
The content has been set at a price of $5 (400 MS points for Xbox 360 gamers), and though no exact date has been set yet for the content the claims of "available this holiday season" seem to imply an imminent release.

Arcane Warriors might be able to make good use of them, but if you're other mage-types, then you're right.

The dog gains some pretty nice unique abilities if you place the talent points in the 'dog' trees as opposed to the generic 'warrior' ones (e.g., AoE stun, Overwhelm, elemental resistances, increased health and regeneration). Also, if you have him mark his territory on those "landmarks" you come across, he'll gain that cool Mabari Dominance buff.
I just want a New Game + option -_-
Also if people are going to put bots like the above "Escort" one then they could at least put male ones......
It's things like these that make me want to wait for a Game of the Year Edition.
@SZK
Yeah, that is a good point that an Arcane Warrior could benefit from them. My mage is a Shapeshifter/Spirit Healer though, so I'm out.
I suppose my biggest problem with the dog is that since it isn't a speaking character there's not a lot of story benefit from having it in my party. I like the banter between characters, and it seems like a waste to throw the dog in and get the cutesy "oh, there's a dog with us" conversations as opposed to ones that might reveal more about their personalities. There's also the fact that I'm just not a dog person, so that bias might be clouding the whole issue.
I'd buy it.
If I could download DLC, which I cannot, thanks to shoddy programming of the whole stuff.
Woes.

Ah, I see. I think the mabari is like a mirror in that sense - having him in the party makes him reveal more about the personalities of those he interacts with, rather than himself. But the vast majority of those interactions are humorous in nature, so if you're looking for more serious ones, I agree in that choosing another member would be much better. :)
glad to see we won't have to wait TOO long to get some extra padding on the main campaign.
