Minesweeper Adventure Game

coolguy.pngOneBigGame, a charity game developer recently announced it's next project, an adventure game based on the freeware puzzle game Minesweeper. The Minesweeper adventure game is being developed at Revolution Software by Charles Cecil. OneBigGame co-founder Martin de Ronde said, "He's [Cecil] come up with a back story for as to why the mines are there, he's come up with characters... It's turning out to be a really, really cool game in terms of mechanics and also in terms of the setting and the universe..."

This makes a lot of sense in my opinion. I actually remember wishing that Minesweeper would allow me to navigate the map with an avatar because I was sick of playing Chip's Challenge and nothing else on the old timey computer could came close enough to satisfy my Zelda needs. The core gameplay mechanic of Minesweeper has a lot of potential for exploration, I just hope Charles Cecil implements it right. Best of luck, hopefully it'll be cool guy shades all around.

If all of this talk of Minesweeper is bringing up old cravings, you can always play the original in your browser.
