LBP Featured In Digital Learning Initiative

Via GamePolitics, President Obama has created an open competition to advance learning through digital media. The focus is on advancing science, technology, engineering, and math skills, which is why the Digital Media and Learning Competition (which will launch December 14, 2009) is putting forth Game Changers:
Game Changers will task entrants with creating content, using the PlayStation 3 game LittleBigPlanet, which incorporates science, engineering and math. Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) and The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) are backers of the competition as well, with the former donating 1,000 PS3 systems and copies of LittleBigPlanet to libraries and community organizations in low-income U.S. communities.
It's nice seeing President Obama not bashing games in passing, though I have no idea on how direct his influence on this competition was. The thought of grooming game content creators is amusing, however. The winning entries will the be announced and released to the public next spring.
