Video: Assassin's Creed Lineage
With Assassin's Creed II coming out next month, it turns out that Ubisoft wants to start turning up the publicity train to full blast. The way they are doing it this time, with a series of short films called Assassin's Creed: Lineage that give the prequel to the setting, family, and secrets of the upcoming Xbox 360, PS3, and PC game. The films are going to be released in episode format on YouTube starting on Oct. 27th, and the above video is a short trailer for the first episode.
Apparently the films are going to center around Giovanni Auditore da Firenz, who is the father of the main character of the videogame, Ezio. The film is all live action, and they used a lot of the same actors that were used to make the motion capture and voice work for the upcoming game, so you'll be hearing a number of the voices and seeing many of the characters that will also inhabit the game, though there may be an age difference.
It's good to see game companies using creative and artistic methods of getting more story out there for players. Even if the films don't end up being "A" quality, it's still something that Ubisoft is putting out for fans to try and help create a lusher Assassin's Creed universe and richer gameplay experience.
