PS3 Slim Bulks Up
Well, the launch of the slimmer and lighter PlayStation 3 at the $299 price point was a success for Sony, boosting sales of the console just in time for the holiday season (I know I'm finally going to get one now). But Sony has just announced that launching on November 3 will be another version of the PS3, this one with a 250GB hard drive instead of the 120GB. It'll otherwise be identical. Oh, well, except for the price, which will be $349.99.
"The PS3 platform is poised for a tremendous holiday season," said Scott A. Steinberg, vice president, product marketing, SCEA. "We kicked things off early with the new price point and sleek form factor and have continued the momentum with this week's launch of the universally acclaimed exclusive, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The new 250GB PS3 provides consumers with another compelling hardware option and speaks to the growing consumer appetite for digital content from the PlayStation Network - particularly high-def content that showcases the power of the PS3 system."
I don't know. I mean, I wish I had the 120 GB hard drive for my 360, because I'm kind of running out of room with all the DLC. but 250GB seems unnecessary. Of course, you always think that... until it fills up without you realizing it!
I also can't help but wonder if Sony is overdoing it again with the multiple SKUs. Time will tell, I guess!

I have a 160GB in my PS3 and can tell you it does fill up quite fast. Especially if you have music, pics and videos on there as well... which I think is what Sony are aiming this new one at for the people that like it as a full media centre.
I find the picture too distracting to get all the way through your post. It's a "Can't see the forest for the wood er-TREES" problem.
I don't understand the two sku thing... they should just stick with one... esp since you can change your harddrive pretty easily. plus i just stream all my por... uh... videos and music through my wireless network from my computer to my ps3 and xbox360.
