Meowwalker Looks Purfect

I'm not that big of a fan of Michael Jackson. But I am a big fan of cats and the cheap humor they bring to the table. I'm also a fan of rhythm games that are more focused on being fun than making you think you're playing a real instrument (see: Elite Beat Agents). The upcoming iPhone game, Meowwalker, seems to be one of those types of games.

This "trailer" shows it being played. It appears to work like this: You select a song from your iPod library on your iPhone, and it generates an obstacle based dance "stage" for you to play through, loosely based on the song. You tilt the phone left and right to slide the moon walking avatar (a cat that looks like Michael Jackson) left and right on the stage to line him up with the spotlight and slide your finger to perform different dance moves once you're in the spotlight. You also have to simultaneously tap projectiles thrown from the crowd before they hit him. It looks fun! It seems to be meowwalking a fine line in terms of copyright law, so lets hope it makes it through the App Store!

There are several games like this (recently one for XBLA indie) and the one thing they all have in common, is that they aren't very fun once you get past the novelty of generating things from your own music.

This one looks no different, apart from shamelessly trying to capitalize on Jacksons death.

I will be very surprised if this game is at all worth playing
