TGS 09: Nier Gestalt Gameplay Video

If you doubt that Square Enix is no stranger to confusing game titles, look no further than the upcoming NieR, now Nier Gestalt, not to be confused with apparent PS3 exclusive Nier Replicant, while Gestalt appears to be a 360 exclusive - information made all the more unreliable by the official word from Square that the Famitsu ads which caused the confusion "do not effect the North American version."

Still, we've got footage from the Tokyo Game Show that poses a more important question to the game and/or games that will/may/could find their way out of Japan: how will Nier, whatever its ultimate designation, outshine the competition - God of War III and Dante's Inferno? With a glut of God of War-esque titles arriving over the next year, including the return of Kratos and his debut on the PS3, how much stylish hacking is too much?

I'll settle for a God of War-esque title with an actually likable protagonist.
