Silent Hill Film Sequel Shooting In 2010
Bloody Disgusting gives us the word that Silent Hill screenwriter Roger Avary and producer Samuel Hadida of Davis Films are returning to the town that Alessa built for a sequel, once Hadida wraps production on Resident Evil: Afterlife. They first put Silent Hill on the movie map in 2006 with an ill-received but definitely Silent Hilly film starring Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean and everybody's favorite Borg Queen, the effortlessly waxy Alice Krige.
No word yet on story details or whether any of the cast will be returning. I'm hoping for a reboot, personally, and no Radha Mitchell - I don't mind the gal, but she doesn't exactly seem to have the Midas touch. Alice Krige, on the other hand, is always welcome at a creepy party: I'm waiting with your face Crisco.

I thought the movie was brilliant. Guess i'm in the minority again. I'm glad they're making a sequel, but I notice Christophe Gans isn't returning as Director.
Cool. The first movie had some problems, but I enjoyed it for what it did well (I don't know if SH1's story would have worked well directly as a film).
Both SH2 and 4 have good stories which could transfer well to movies, or maybe they will just pull a SH2, scrap all the previous story, and tell a totally original story focused around the town. That could be neat.
This movie is already doomed due to the fact Roger Avary is on board again. His writing is the sole reason for what ruined the first film.
Though, I am willing to give him a chance depending on what he's going to do with the sequel. If he decides to adapt one of the games into the film, then it's pretty much going to suck. If he decides to do something different (i.e. an adaptation that has nothing to do with the games) then I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.
Also, I hope that whoever they get to direct the movie will do less fan-service. (Personally, Pyramid Head being in the movie was something that also ruined it for me.)

Poltergasm, I too loved the movie, but anyone who didn't play the original game seemed to think it sucked hard core lol. It was a combo of the heroes from Part 2 and the story of Part 1 almost.
Pffft, ppl piss and moan about the first movie. I'd argue it's mostly because it's not 1:1 based on the games. They shoulda enjoyed it for what it was: creepy as fuck silent hill thingy horror movie.
I don't know - in terms of movies based on video games, I feel like Silent Hill is definitely near the top. I'm looking forward to the sequel.
Personally? I really enjoyed the first movie, and I hope the next one will also be good.
