Lips Compatibility Questions Answered (Sort Of)

There's been some questions raised about compatibility between Lips and its soon-to-be-released sequel, Lips: Number One Hits, so I contacted a rep over at Microsoft to see what the deal-i-o is. Turns out that unfortunately, you won't be able to port over the songs from the original Lips into the sequel by copying them to the hard drive, a la Rock Band and Rock Band 2. This is too bad, but as I only have the 20GB HD, I'm not even sure I'd have room for them all without spending a fortune to upgrade. On the plus side, if you do have both games, you'll be able to swap back and forth during gameplay without having to restart. So that's good, right?
And as for the ability to sing along to all the tunes you downloaded for Lips in Number One Hits? The rep reports: "We're currently working with our licensing partners for compatibility across all Lips games." So that one sounds like it's still up in the air right now. The business side of things kind of goes over my head, but I'd think you'd license the songs for Lips and all possible future iterations or something. Then again, maybe that's too expensive, and they weren't sure that sales would warrant a sequel. Who knows. I'm just looking forward to singing some new tunes next month, even if I do have to swap discs to go back to some of my favorites!

but more importantly, when are they going to give us the long overdue mic update so that we can use them with rock band 2, the one that is listed on the packaging for the solo mics that you can by in stores.
I don't know. It works with Beatles Rock Band no problem, but not RB2. I don't see why that should be...
