Video: Xbox "Games on Demand' Launch List Revealed

Tired of walking to the game store for your budget, slightly dated Xbox 360 releases? Me too. Frankly, I hate going to game stores anymore, mostly due to crowds and tourists. All that aside, It's kinda nice to know that the Xbox 360 "Games on Demand" service will be launching soon in the next dashboard update.

The service will allow you to download full fledged titles and play them without ever leaving our homes. Microsoft said the pricing will be 'similar' to that of their physical counter parts. My guess is that 'similar' means exactly the same. The first 21 launch titles are as follows:

  • Assassin's Creed
  • Need for Speed: Most Wanted
  • Burnout Paradise
  • Perfect Dark Zero
  • Call of Duty 2
  • Prey
  • Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
  • Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis
  • Fight Night Round 3
  • SEGA Rally
  • Kameo: Elements of Power
  • Test Drive: Unlimited
  • LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas
  • Mass Effect
  • Tomb Raider: Legend
  • Meet The Robinsons
  • Viva Piñata
  • MX vs. ATV Untamed
  • Viva Piñata 2: Trouble in Paradise
  • Need for Speed Carbon

If you watched the video I'm sure you noticed that LEGO Star Wars is listed as $19.99. Strangely, that's not a Microsoft Points value. No word if that is the final cost or not.

They've said before that they will be listing the Games on Demand as money and not having to use Microsoft Points, you will be able to purchase the games from credit card instantly.

I know they're competitors, but Microsoft needs to pay attention to Apple/iTunes. Charging the exact same price for a virtual product as a physical one is a good way to ensure people don't take advantage of your service.

Yeah, it makes sense to have a lower price for a digital copy since companies don't have to worry about production costs, etc. If say Mass Effect were cheaper (even by $5) to download, then I would most definitely purchase it from Microsoft's GoD. Otherwise, I'd much rather have a physical copy handy...you know, just in case...

I'm guessing a Paypal option isn't on the cards? [I don't have the credit card types that the 360 and Wii's online services use]

And if that's the case, then I just stick to having a full physical copy, thanks.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
