Xbox Elite Price Drops $100, 360 Pro Goes Bye Bye

It's the time and the season for price drops! Microsoft has officially announced that the 120GB Xbox 360 Elite is receiving a $100 price cut making it $299. The best selling 60GB Xbox 360 Pro edition is being phased out all together. The price on the Pro model is dropping by $50 to $249 while supplies last. The price drop is expected to happen as of this Friday. The UK Elite will also be getting a price cut of £30 making it £199.99. In an additional cost cutting measure, HDMI cables will no longer be shipped with the console
As a 60GB Pro owner myself, I have to say I wish I would have held out for the Elite. The 60GB hard drive hardly seems enough when you consider Rock Band downloads and transfered songs from other discs, hug game saves, videos, music and other add-ons. I find that I am constantly clearing off things I might otherwise want to keep in order to make room for newer items. Currently, a 120GB hard drive (without the console) costs around $120 on Amazon. I'm hoping that perhaps we'll see a price break there as well so I can finally have some more room for important things like more avatar clothes.

The timing for this is great for me. I wanted to buy an Xbox 360 Pro over the summer but didnt have enough saved money to do so. Now I can get and Elite OR a PS3 slim! The question is, which one should I get....
Don't forget that they're adding $/£30 to the Arcade model also [which I find rather a snarky move].
I really wish Microsoft would add WiFi to its systems...
Ohh, Such a shame. D: Avatar clothes are the most important, tbh ;D
Well's my xbox 360 suffered the severe RRoD. I don't play many games, i'm like a hardcore 3+ gamer (;. But I really like RE 5 Versus :) So, My dad logged on, on to ebay & managed to snag one of these things for £189! it comes with 6 games aswell! D: It's in pretty good condition now & It's not banned x] Needless to say I thought nothing of this, but when I googled it and it was aparantly the best one, I was like "I'll be damned" :) But yeaaah, Snagg a bargain on ebay, dude (;
you think the 60 GB feels small, imagine how us early adopters (and I use the term loosely, as the Elite was originally just around the corner when I got mine) feel with our 20gb. I can either pay $150 for an HDD, or $299 to get a second Xbox with the HDD. make one the primary, and put the other in the living room or something. /sigh
They had to cut prices in response to the release of the PS3 slim.
My Elite died this week after just hitting the two year mark. Buy an extended warranty or be prepared to drop $100.00 when it chokes after the one year mark. If you get the red rings though they cover that up to three year,that's it though.
I don't care WHY they got it right. The point is that they did. And perhaps that factored into the Wiis design. Well, guess what, its the number one system now, so maybe that was a smart move. The thing that bothers me most about Sony is that they PROMISED full back compat from the beginning. Then they changed their minds. Super lame.
The new $299 version will only come with a composite video cable! If you want HD, you have to buy your own HDMI or component cable.
The price cut is irrelevant,since the WII is now a major brand. A classic example is the I Phone. Despite cheaper competitors offering the same features, it has managed to maintain its lead in the market.
bought a xbox 360 pro yesterday for $300 and i find out today that they are $50 cheaper!!!!!!!!!!!!! i want $50 back!
