Video: Just Dance, Gonna Be Okay...
Ubisoft is inviting Nintendo Wii owners to Just Dance this holiday season, but as you can see from the video above, they're being deliberately vague about what's in the game. Luckily, they also put out a press release with some actual information. Basically, it's a dance game, but with the Wiimote instead of a mat. You'll follow on-screen choreographed moves to dance along to various tunes.
"Just Dance is a fun game for all ages where players will learn real dance moves set to classic and modern songs across all genres they know and love," said Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer of Ubisoft. "The concept is simple and whether players are looking for fun, exercise or a good time with friends and family, we feel everyone will enjoy Just Dance."
Honestly, the trailer is almost unrepentantly dorky enough for me to enjoy it, and I'm all for a Wii game that offers a workout at the same time as I'm having fun. And if it's easier to pull off moves than in something like We Cheer, I'm all for it. I could do without hearing Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold" again, but including songs like "Surfin' Bird," "Fame," "Girls Just Want To Have Fun," "Pump Up The Jam," "U Can't Touch This," "Groove Is In The Heart," and "Girls & Boys" by Blur is definitely a step in the right direction. I mean, seriously, who doesn't love "Pump Up The Jam?" Oh, and I'm assuming the Lady Gaga tune is included and not just being used as the title of the game...

Actually, I hate to break it to you Wootini, but so far it looks like her Gaganess is not associated in any way with the game.
Wii Dance Game...? I'm unsure... but I'll happily check out the boys in leather at the end of that vid.
If they say all genres, can I assume there will be a waltz in there as well?
That last song made me a little too excited for this game.
From the closing shot, it looks like this'll be multiplayer for four people as well. Not that I expect to find three other people who'll all be willing to bop along to this game with me... well, there's always mother. Nyahaha. Hooray for shameless moms!
I also thought this looked super dorky, till I played it at PAX this past weekend!! It's GREAT.
