Fruit Brute Goes Mad For Batman: Arkham Asylum

A rather hefty package arrived at Chez Brute the other day and since I always get overly excited by packages, I ripped it open right away. The decorative box inside announced the arrival of my copy of Batman: Arkham Asylum but I was a bit perplexed as to why the package was so large and rather heavy. I opened it to discover my own personalized straitjacket with a copy of the game and a few playing cards inside. I was anxious to try the straitjacket on, but then I realized two things: 1. I wouldn't be able to play the game with it on and 2. It's really hard to actually put on a straitjacket by yourself. So, I abandoned that idea and popped the game in the trusty old PS3.
While this in not my official review since I haven't really played enough to write a full story, I will say that this game is freaking fantastic. Eidos has really outdone themselves on this one. Definitely the best Batman game ever made if not the best superhero game ever made. The gameplay is fun, the controls easy to understand and the graphics are top notch. And to top it all off, they use my absolute favorite character style of The Joker which looks ripped from the pages of the original 30's comic books. It also helps that he is voiced by Mark Hamill, the definitive go to guy for the Joker's voice since his first appearance in Batman: The Animated Series.
If the summer gaming lull was starting to get you down, Batman: Arkham Asylum is the perfect remedy. Keep an eye out for a full review early next week.

YES.
Wow, its really that good!? Dammit, what is with all the awesome games coming out in freaking August!? Dissidia has my undivided attention, but I have to find time for Shadow Complex (yes, I'm buying the game and saying to hell with the 50 cents that Card will get) and now Arkham Asylum. GAH!!!
I bought this game for the PS3 on a whim yesterday. I threw the disc in, sat down, and ended up killing six hours before looking at the clock in disbelief. I wholeheartedly agree that it has to be the greatest Batman game ever made. The graphics and shading are amazing. The play control is top-notch. And most importantly, it's just really fun to play.
And here I was, thinking that I would have nothing to tide me over until Rock Band: The Beatles comes out on 9-9-09...
Oooooh something to do till Aion comes out. Just me and batman...
I picked up this game on a friends recommendation, and I had no idea what I was in for. I am a big Batman fan, but there has never really been a good Batman game. There still isn't a good Batman game, cause this game is AMAZING. Been playing it in my free time for two days solid.
With whom do I have to sleep to get such a jacket!?
*sigh* ...there goes my idea for Brute's Christmas gift.
good..
Wow, you got a freakin' straitjacket!? I so want that...my copy just came with a batarang. While it does look cool, I can't take it off the stand. How am I supposed to fight crime with that?
Batman Arkham Asylum cut scenes really look awesome! After reading a couple of reviews about the games, I finally decided to buy a copy before Aion Online is launched. A good way to kill time.
