So with the newly announced PS3 Slim, Sony is set to launch their seventh version of the console in North America early next month. But with so many changes, additions, subtracts, and redesigns to the powerful system keeping some of the technical details of each version of the console can be a little tricky for those of us that don't sit at home and memorize some of this stuff. Thankfully, JC Fletcher over at Joystiq has compiled a handy little chart that details each PS3 model, so that consumers looking for that small special feature that matters to them the most can find the right PS3 for them.
One area that I hadn't realized the Slim differs from every other model of the console ever produced is that other operating systems, such as Linux, cannot be installed on it. It might not have been a huge feature to everyone, but it was an interesting idea and a refreshing change of pace for a hardware manufacturer to take. I suppose that those that really want a PS3 Linux machine will just have to settle with what's currently out there.
Head on over to Joystiq's article to contrast and compare the evolution of PS3 models.
