Buy New Games For Used Prices At Best Buy
Want to buy your games for cheap and get them brand spankin' new? Well it looks like Best Buy might have you covered according to a sign that popped up at a store in West Joradan, Utah. A sign from Best Buy was posted on the CAG forums claiming that Best Buy will be matching the price of their new games with the used prices at GameStop and Game Crazy.
Game developers and publishers have long complained about the used game market taking away from their sales, so this is sure to help enamor publishers with Best Buy. Maybe it could result in all of those nifty GameStop exclusive games and pre-order bonuses shifting Best Buy's way? Or at the very least it could result in GameStop lowering their used prices to force Best Buy to stop.
According to Joystiq for now this is just a local test promotion from Best Buy, so unless you live in Utah don't expect to find these signs at your local store. But here's to hoping that their test goes well and they roll out a nationwide promotion in time for the holiday game buying rush.

That's pretty sweet. I'm always going to Best Buy to price match on games and DVDs, but this is even better considering how cheap used games are. Even better than that is getting a brand new game at the used game price. I hope this program moves onto other BB stores. :)

I don't know how great a deal this is. From my experience most used games are about 5-8$ cheaper at gamestop than their new counterparts. Sure that still is cheaper but not a OMFG What a Deal! cheap.
Yeah, new releases tend to still be pretty expensive used, but at least it's still cheaper than what you'd pay at Best Buy regularly, and you get it definitely new, not used or "new" at GameStop. So technically it's kind of a deal.

Not a great great deal... but still... better than no discount at all. I'm not a big fan of buying used but I will so I can get it a little cheaper... so being able to buy new at a used price is a great deal for me.

Although that does sound like a great idea, and Best Buy does have a really great price match guarentee, extending it to Used game prices on New games sounds great! :)
Any discount is better than no discount, and if this is this kind of thing that shakes up Gamestop then I'm in favor. Their trade in values are extremely low for their prices on used titles to still be so high. Additionally, no offense to any specific Gamestop employees who are doing their jobs as individuals (I even used to be one) but the overall customer service there usually sucks.
They don't really have any direct competition so they're able to get by on not being run very well. If Best Buy starts to move in on their territory and promotes them to start doing better, then so be it.
