Universal To Make Asteroids Movie?

One surprising piece of news that has popped up at Comic Con is that apparently there was a bidding war that recently happened to gain the movie rights to the Asteroids game property. While the game itself was a very fun and addicting one to play, I think a lot of people don't see it having many of the plot elements necessary for a movie. The people at Universal beg to differ:
"We've crafted a really strong, deep mythology for the thing," producer Lornezo di Bonaventura told IGN. "It's two lead characters - two brothers - who have to go through a seminal experience to figure out their relationship, against this huge backdrop."
I guess this is just part of companies trying to play on the nostalgia factor to make more money, and I don't doubt that it'll work in that reguards. I just hope that they can also keep the movie classy, and no just give us another Armageddon with brothers. Here's to hoping. (on a side note, the word seminal has some varied meanings and might not want to be used when talking about brothers and explosions)

My friends and I heard about this before and desperately tried to think of some plot for this.
We figured it had to be either a disaster movie (Ahh, giant asteroids headed toward Earth!) or something like mercenaries are hired to defend shipping ships from raids.
Although each plotline seems trite.
