The DS Is Crazy Popular
(Big Surprise, Right?)

Popular 1910.jpg

Nintendo is proudly boasting that the Nintendo DS and DSi systems combined to sell more than 766,000 units in June, which is more than all current-generation home consoles combined. (If you're curious, that breaks down to 424,000 DSi's and 342,000 DS's) Oh, and the Wii celebrated its 21st consecutive month as the top-selling console, selling 362,000 in the same time frame, so Nintendo wins there, too.

"More consumers continued to gravitate toward products that offer quality experiences and great value for the whole family," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "Consumers again selected Nintendo systems for those experiences, particularly our hand-helds."

Nintendo also had four of the top ten games on the best-seller list for June including EA Sports Active (#3), Wii Fit (#4), Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 (#7) and Mario Kart Wii (#8). And as surprising as it is that they're still selling that many DSes (doesn't everyone already have one yet?), I was even more surprised that they've already sold 374,000 Wii MotionPlus accessories. Sure, 205,000 of them came packaged with that Tiger Woods game, but until Wii Sports Resort launches on July 26, that's the only game you can even use it with!

Ha, that would be funny, if everyone stopped buying DS and they only sold a couple hundred.

But really I don't find much fascinating about the DSi. Maybe the brighter screen (since I do have a problem playing DS while tanning in this summer sun). But the lower battery life sucks, and the new features seem to as well.

But That's just me, and congrats Nintendo on making good hardware anyway. Hope DSiWare works well!

That's not true. There are also the tennis games! Two of them use Wii Motion Plus, and they've been out for a while.

I'm pretty sure you can use Wii MotionPlus with both Virtua Tennis 2009 and Grand Slam Tennis not just Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10.

Lydecker, thanks. I fixed it. That was a heck of an odd typo!

I hadn't realized that Virtua Tennis had already come out. And I didn't realize Grand Slam Tennis was also compatible. My bad! Okay, nevermind, then!

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
