WoW Bending Gender And Now Faction?
Well it seems like Activison Blizzard is not just happy with blurring the line of gender in their World of Warcraft characters. It seems now that they want to take it to the next level by creating a service to allow you to change your faction in game, basically letting you become a Benedict Arnold.
Now, this doesn't meant that you get to keep your current race and join the other side of the fight, it only means that like the realm transfer and character change services, soon you will be allowed to change your character into a comparable character of the opposite faction. This means your Night Elf druid can now become that bovine Tauren druid that you always imagined him (or her) to be. The news of this new service being in the works comes from the official World of Warcraft forums in which community manager Nethaera has this to say about the service:
There's still much work to do and many details to iron out, but the basic idea is that players will be able to use the service to transform an existing character into a roughly equivalent character of the opposing faction on the same realm . . . As with all of the features and services we offer, we intend to incorporate the faction-change service in a way that won't disrupt the gameplay experience on the realms, and there will be some rules involved with when and how the service can be used. The number of variables involved increases the complexity of implementing this service, but we plan to take the time needed to ensure that it lives up to expectations before officially rolling it out.
So currently there's no definite plan on when it'll be released; however, she does mention later that we might see code for it in the upcoming test builds, so it may be something they are trying to role out in the next major content patch that is currently on the test realms. Well, we'll just have to wait and see what they end up doing with it, but my guess is that this will make a number of people happy that would have to complete reroll new character to play with their friends of a different faction. Plus, I'm sure there'll be a fee for a service, and money is never something to be shunned by Activision Blizzard.

Dull!!
Now, if it WAS allowing you to switch your horde to an ally supporting traitor, that would totally rock.
First, realm change then came name change... then this! I bet that will cost more than $10 again. But I find it ridiculous. If you want to be part of the alliance/horde, why did you create your character in the opposing faction in the first place??
It seems this is mostly for people who may only get to play a few hrs a week, so it takes them months (if not years, srlsy) to get a character fully lvl'd and good gear. Some of the new changes (specirficaly with mounts) are anoying to long time dedicated players. I wish they would do soemthing similar 2 a grandfather clause but I dont see it happening. I am hoping blizard doesnt go to far and just not make the game fun anymore.
@ wow gold... um you are linking to a gold site and whining about paying for a blizzard service lol. It's a great idea though. I personally think this is great as recently i have made some friends on the horde side with my death knight and want all my characters horde.
I totally agree with Marsten. Boring!
It would be tons more exciting if Blizzard actually decided to mix it up and implement quests that allow Horde and Alliance races to switch to the other side.
I guess Blizzard and the millions it sucks cash from don't mind keeping WoW's repetitive, mediocre status quo.
