Wootini's Weekly Animal Crossing Diary

RUU_0270.JPG

Dear Diary,

This week was a fine mix of the good and the bad. Which, if you take them both, there you have the facts of life, the facts of life...

Sorry, anyway, My week started off weird when I exited my house to find Wendell, of all people, lurking around outside like a peeping tom or something. Turns out that he had a new design that he just couldn't wait for me to look at. Now, I see him wandering around Narnia from time to time, but I can't be bothered to feed him fish to get his designs, because I never think they're that great. I'm sure the guy's very talented... I just haven't seen it yet. Anyway, he had a Mayor's Flag design that he wanted to give me for nothing, and it's basically Tortimer's face. Why? Who knows. That walrus is just weird.

More after the jump!

I also had a letter from the Nook Point Tracking System where they revealed that I'd bought enough crap to become a Silver member (5,000 points), and they even awarded me a Nook-and-Go model for my trouble. Awesome! I'm still working my way up with the points. I've actually finally unlocked the Link outfit, but I don't want to spend my points on it until I see how much the hat is. At least, I think there's a hat somewhere to be had. I was surprised to also find that at this level, I've unlocked Samus' clothes, which actually tempted me more, since I know I already have a Samus helmet to wear. But I'm still kind of determined to dress as Link, so I'm avoiding cross-dressing as Samus for the time being...

I had so much crap luck with the fountain this week that I actually kind of gave up for a while and didn't even try to get the golden axe. I mean, the first time I tried, she asked me if she looked different. I tried to compliment her by saying she did, but then she complained that one little wrinkle and everyone notices! So touchy! At least she appreciated my honesty and gave me my axe back. As opposed to the last time I tried where she complained about her frizzy hair and makeup and getting hit in the head and keeping my axe. Bitch. Although I also noticed that the fountain in the City has a statue of the same exact fairy on top of it. Not sure if it means anything, just something I noticed. Would've tried to throw my axe in there... if I still had one! Sigh...

I had mentioned before how Sally had wanted to move, and I told her to go ahead, if that's what she really wanted to do. She's talked about leaving before, and I've always stopped her, but I thought maybe she needed a change of pace, and so did Narnia. I'm not sure why it takes people so long to actually move (maybe they're slow packers?), but eventually this week, she did leave. She wrote quite the touching good-bye letter. Aw. Now I kind of miss her.

Oh, I snapped a photo of the Mayor's Flag when I finally got around to putting it up at the town gate. I think it's kind of fabulous. It's like Tortimer is judging you from on high. (As opposed to from the ground, like he usually does...) What am I wearing? Oh, I don't know. It's just a jester's hat and some wild color shirt that the Able Sisters had on sale one day. I'd actually bought a doctor's shirt from Ankha earlier in the week, and that very day, the Sisters were selling a doctor's mirror to wear over my eye, so I walked around as a doctor for a day or so. But I had to agree with my bf when he thought I looked like a child predator or something. It did look a bit creepy. So I decided to go insane with this look. I kind of like it, though!

So a few days after Sally leaves, I discovered that Poppy had suddenly moved into Narnia. Great. Now I wish Sally had stayed. I trade one cute squirrel for another? What's the point? Well, I guess technically, Poppy is a little cuter than Sally, but don't tell Sally that. I'd had for that to get back to her after we parted on such good terms. I do have one complaint about Poppy, which is that she moved into the most crowded neighborhood of Narnia, right south of Nook's shop and the town hall. I used to have a nice straight line from the ocean up the hill to the store, but now there are three houses in the way that I have to zig zag around. Such a pain!

Not much to say about this one except that Redd was selling the famous painting again, and after two forgeries, he finally sold me the real thing! Blathers was so excited to have it in the museum, and I immediately had to go back into the gallery to take a photo of it. It's pretty. And it's in the back room of the gallery which is like the special section for the really rare paintings I think. I mean, this one's behind a velvet rope and everything! Not sure about this chick's smile, though — she looks like she's up to something.

In addition to the painting, I also added a few creatures to the museum's collection this week. I caught a regular shark so the hammerhead from last week would have some company, as well as some large golden river fish called a dorado. It's probably worth a fortune, but unfortunately, I always have to give the first one to the museum. Next time I'll see how much it gets from Nook. I was pleased to see that the char gets so many bells, seeing as how I see a lot of them. The eels, too. They're like 2,000 bells a piece, and they seem to be everywhere. But my biggest triumph was finally catching a lantern fly. All week, I'd see this giant moth attached to the front of a tree, but I couldn't quite catch it and it would escape. Actually, more often than not, I wouldn't even see it! I'd just be walking around town, minding my own business, and suddenly I'd hear a great flapping of wings and it would take off into the night, startling me. So it was a great pleasure to finally nab one! It's a nasty little beast — I've gotta agree with Blathers on this one!

These posts keep making me want to buy a Wii just to get this game. Would it be worth it

If reading about what I've been doing in Animal Crossing: City Folk makes you think that you would have the same amount of fun doing it yourself, I'd say go for it.

However, I am really against buying a console just to play one game. That hardly seems worth it. (It's why I don't yet have a PS3) But if you can look at the Wii software library and find a bunch more games that you think you'd also enjoy, then by all means, pick up a Wii. It's a great console with a bunch of terrific games. (There's also a whole lot of crap, though, so be careful!)

Yeah, my friends all have Wiis. I've got a 360 which isn't much for multi-player so its hard to get my bf into playing games with me (he doesn't like rock band).
