LucasArts Gauging Market With Monkey

Well, as Tiny Dancer showed us at E3, LucasArts spent some good time and loving on an old franchise that wasn't Star Wars, and is bringing us The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition for download on the PC and the Xbox Live Arcade. I know many of us old school PC gamers are happy that they are re-releasing and re-mastering this classic game and are hopeful that this is just the beginning. Well, according to a recent posting by one of LucasArts Community Managers, whether or not you see any remakes of Grim Fandango or Day of the Tentacle is all up to you!
If you want to see LucasArts' peerless catalogue of point-and-click adventure games re-released for today's modern machines, buy The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition in a few months time."If this sells, there's no one at this company who doesn't want to do these games," says Brooks. "It's a matter of showing that there's interest and this market is alive and get people as excited as possible about Monkey Island Special Edition to show that these things can make it."
There you go, if you want to see more remakes of classic games, make sure that LucasArts sees that there is a market for such games. It makes sense too, nostalgia can only take a game so far, so as much as you say that you want remakes of games, if you aren't buying them, they can't keep making them. From the article, one of the coolest things I find out about the game is that anytime while playing it, you can actually switch between the classic look of the game and the updated look of the game, now that's an updated classic that will let you stay true to its roots if you want to. So there you've heard it, if you want more LucasArts classics, buy Monkey Island.

I am probablly NOT going to buy it. While I would love to see new adventure games, and have already pre-ordered Monkey Island from TellTale Games, I have little interest in owning a third copy (remake or not). I have had the original Monkey Island via the Original Release, the 'Adventure Collection' I think it was, with Zak and Indy, and of course, the CD Collection of 1&2. Unfortunatily, they will see my lack of purchase as disinterest in rereleases, as opposed to, you know, already owning it.
I command everyone to purchase all versions of this in hopes that we'll see some sort of update/sequel to the greatest work of art ever produced by LucasArts: LOOM.
...Yeah, I know it'll never happen. T_T
