Endless Ocean 2 Won't Be As Relaxing

Say what you will about Endless Ocean for the Wii, but I quite liked it. I appreciated the relaxing pressure-free scuba diving, with the soothing new age music and pretty fish to swim amongst. However, a lot of people didn't think that was much of a game, and complained that it was boring. Well, while those people might not be too thrilled to hear that a sequel is on the way, Endless Ocean 2 might turn out to be a bit more of a game.
This time, in addition to improved graphics and more creatures to discover and interact with, there's a little more adventure included. You might have to escape or calm down attacking sharks, exploring shipwrecks or finding treasure. This makes it sound more like developer ARIKA's Everblue 2, which I also enjoyed. If this can find a nice balance between the free-form diving and exploration and the mission-based treasure hunting it could be a lot of fun.
Instead of a specific patch of ocean, this time you'll be able to explore areas all over the world for a wider variety of creatures. You can also sell salvageable items to buy decorations for their own personal reef to attract fish or decorate aquariums. Rather than just pet the fish this time around, you'll be able to play doctor to heal the sick ones. There's more dolphin training, and a storyline you can opt to follow. Or not. Your call. Oh, and this time around, when using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, to dive with your friends, you can communicate with the Wii Speak microphone! That'll certainly make things a whole lot more fun in multiplayer.
I know I'm actually looking forward to Endless Ocean 2 when it launches at some point early next year, but your mileage may vary. If you're at all curious, I've also included a gallery below to enjoy the sights without having to get your feet wet. (The high-res ones towards the end are especially pretty.)

I'm way too excited about this game already. I loved the first one and think the changes they've made for the sequel will make it even better.
Wow that... That looks really good, actually. I remember wanting the first but never got around to picking it up.
I'm really interested in this sequel. It looks like a lot of fun, and more fleshed out. I know if I get it, I'll want to exchange friend codes with you to do team dives. I also have Wii Speak.
Not my thing but hopefully the 2nd version will be even better. More interactivity is good, but I don't think it needs to be 'a game'. Not everything that comes out on consoles have to be a game, can just be another way or relaxation :)
