E3 09: DJ Mix Tour

There's something about being inside a Limo Bus with black leather couches and mobile games that let's you know you're in for a treat, and that is exactly how I found myself when first introduced to the DJ Mix Tour iPhone game by Gameloft. The game is your standard rhythm game, with a little spin, or more appropriately, spinning records.
The game play is simplistic in that you are touching the screen whenever one of three colors scroll over the correct position on the screen; however, they roll in off one of the two spinning DJ turntables on either side of the screen or down the center mixer. The songs and beats were fast and frantic, but they synced well with the music. The game has over four levels of difficulty, so I'm sure the game gets plenty harder that the 'medium' setting I had the game at.
I knew that this game would appeal to a number of gaygamers due to the songs I got to play with, since most of the 14 available tracks are dance or trance songs. I was personally happy to see covers of two different Lady Gaga songs, Just Dance and Poker Face. A few other notable songs were Britney Spear's Womanizer and P!nk's Get the Party Started. Most of the available songs are covers, but four of the songs are original recordings.
Overall, DJ Mix Tour for the iPhone was probably the strongest rhythm game I got to play at E3 that was coming to the mobile market. The game is due out later this month and at the low price tag of $6.99, so definitely check it out if you have an iPhone or an iPod Touch.
