Don't Expect Retro Game Challenge 2 Anytime Soon

In an interview with Joystiq, XSEED's Jun Iwasaki and Jimmy Soga shared some behind the scenes details about their business. In the past year they've garnered a name for themselves by bringing niche, fan-favorite titles over to North America, which can sometimes be a risky proposition in a casual driven market. Case in point: Retro Game Challege, which despite racking up critical accolades, hasn't burned up the charts. Of course that sad fact affects our chances for the sequel, according to Iwasaki.
I hope to do that, but so far the sales results -- not to expectations. And also, hopefully, we'd like to publish Retro Game Challenge 2, but in the beginning we have to calculate profit. So, I can't say now it'll never happen, but it's up to the sales results in the future. If it dramatically increases, the sales, then maybe I'll offer a pitch to Bandai Namco again to bring to the US. But currently ... it's tough to bring, so far.
There's still a chance the game may come much later, or from a publisher besides XSEED, but don't hold your breath for now. The interview also discusses what happened with Muramasa (they didn't drop the game, but Namco Bandai got a better offer), and Flower, Sun, and Rain's shifting release dates.
