Atlus Bringing Shiren The Wanderer To Wii

Atlus sent word to their faithful this morning, announcing that the company would be bringing the Wii roguelike Shiren the Wanderer to North America. The Chunsoft developed game was originally released in Japan as Fushigi no Dungeon - Furai no Shiren 3: Karakuri Yashiki no Nemuri Hime in 2008. Although the series has been quite popular in Japan, this will only be the second game in the Shiren series to come to North America, after the DS remake of Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer was released by Sega in 2008.
As Shiren, a wandering adventurer with a penchant for exploration, monster-slaying, and item collection, you will trek across a countryside with your companion, Koppa, a talking ferret. Randomly-generated areas, intense boss battles, extensive item customization, and a cast of intriguing and unpredictable characters translate into one of the most satisfying RPG experiences of the year.
A talking ferret? I'm so there, even if all it says is "I want to pull all the fluff out of your couch." Atlus promises that this is the most accessible Shiren adventure yet, so if you were scared off by the hardcore reputation that the series has, you may want to give this one a shot. At the same time, I'm sure there will be enough depth for those of you looking for a challenge. The game is set for a 2010 release date.
