DSi Outsells DS Lite By 4 To 1

No complaints from Nintendo on hardware sales: Nintendo sold over a million DS units in April, a figure that grinds the competition into unrecognizable beige and black dust. Of those 1.04 million DS units, 827,000 were brand new DSi units, which are more expensive by $40 than the 215,000 DS Lite units sold in April.
That would be a phenomenal turnout for an entirely novel product, let alone for a hardware refresh with an enormous existing install base - a huge number of people who already own a DS could have stunted sales. Instead, DS Lite owners are rushing not to replace their DS with the new model, but to snatch up the DSi and pass down their existing DS to friends or family members. (A bit of news that could raise an ironic eyebrow at the furor over the used-game retail business...)
DSiWare offerings are still woefully unappealing, but if a million people last month were willing to shell out $169.99 for a slightly thinner machine with new cameras and the ability to download games straight from Nintendo, we can expect Nintendo to flesh out its DSiWare portfolio over the coming year.
The DS may be the last comer to the digital download party, but with its crushingly competitive hardware sales - that doesn't seem to matter.
DSi outsells standard DS Lite by nearly 4 to 1 [Ars Technica]
