Video: 'Womanizer' Explores MMO Gender-Swapping
We usually stay away from the wonderful world of machinima, which while endlessly entertaining rarely make for good news. But in this case it's at least tangentially relevant: Sharm, AKA taintedlore on YouTube, has put together this parody of Britney's "Womanizer," which explores all the endless gender-bending that male MMO gamers engage in on a routine basis.
It's true that there are plenty (Millions?) of male WoW players who enjoy playing female characters for slightly icky reasons, so much so that it's a cliche of the genre, and Sharm's lovely voice and biting lyrics cut to the heart of why that's as amusing and/or frustrating as it is.
We gays, of course, play female characters for entirely more evolved reasons than staring at booby-shaped polygons. Getting free kisses from pectoral-shaped polygons, for instance.
[Thanks to James for the tip]

"Getting free kisses from pectoral-shaped polygons, for instance."
On a related note, back when I used to play Final Fantasy XI, a lot of straight guys in my linkshell freely admitted to using female characters (primarily Mithra, but also a few Humes) to flirt with higher-level male characters because it often resulted in getting free stuff - some of which was expensive and/or rare - or help from those characters whenever they needed it. At first I didn't believe them, but then I realized that most straight guys probably wouldn't admit to that sort of thing unless it was true.
Really? I use pectoral-shaped polygons to kiss other pectoral-shaped polygons. Besides, I find pectoral-shaped polygons have better asses to see for hours on end.
No discernible reason to go for boobies except for the favours.
LOL SZK! I would totally have to agree with you on that(from personal experience). I probably would have never gotten as far as I did in FFXI without my wonderfully cute & "friendly" blonde Hume ^_^ I like to think of it as a gaming flaw that you can legally take advantage of.
I refuse to play man characters on mmos! It's so much easier being a lady, with exception to the creeps. ANyways i'm pretty sure that 75% or more of female characters are guys IRL.
Not just WoW... there are a lot of male heterosexist/homophobic men in LOTRO (especially in my end-game raid kin) that play women.
And one of those screen caps she used was from Lord of the Rings Online (the one with the mountain "Weathertop")
My main in WoW is a female. I don't like the look of the guys in WoW. Too... awkward. But I love the way my human female looks.
Now blood elfs... nevermind.
