Video: The Onion Skewers Game Violence

Shooting people people in the face from point-blank range has never been this fun. In a Special Report, The Onion takes the job of introducing the world to the next big game, Close Range, a first-person shooter that does away with frills like story, gameplay, and shooting people anywhere other than the face. Pure FPS adrenal ecstasy, Close Range and its sequel, Close Range: Chainsaw Dawn, are purely about shooting people in the face, point-blank.

Complete with critic commentary from GamePro and IGN and some GameStop-ish, the video even features some in-store gushing worthy of any stereotypical FPS fanboy: "It's completely open ended: you can shoot someone in the ear, but you can also shoot them in the eye."

Hooray for that.
