LEGO Rock Band Confirmed

While it has been a rumor for a while, today, Harmonix and TT Games have official announced that they are working on LEGO: Rock Band for release near the Holiday 2009 season. The game is built to be more 'family friendly' and will therefore feature tracks that appeal to a wider audience. A few of the tracks already announced include: Blur's Song 2, Carl Douglas' Kung Fu Fighting, Europe's The Final Countdown, Good Charlotte's Boys and Girls, and Pink's So What.
The game will feature the normal elements of building a band and slowly playing at bigger and bigger venues as your tour the land, but this time with a uniquely LEGO twist. Creating band members will literally mean that you are building them, piece by piece. Once you cobble your band members together, you then have the task to 'rock the universe'. To that end we've been told that each venue will take place that only the LEGO universe can deliver, so expect to go out of this world and beyond.
The press release confirms that the game will be compatible with previous Rock Band instruments as well as 'other' music game instruments. No big announcement on any new instruments to be released with this game, but I'm sure they'll add some bells and whistles to the previous revisions to help 'compliment' the game (as well as their pocketbooks). Look for more information on the songs list and extra features for the game in upcoming months all before the game is released during the holiday season on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, and Nintendo DS. As for me, I'll just be hanging with the LEGO groupies until then.

Please please please have an awesome LEGO style guitar / drumset!
DS? Nothing about the DSi it would seem. Wonder how RockBand will translate to DSi, if ever.
It is sad I would buy this just to get The Final Countdown. Hopefully songs from this will be available for the regular game in the marketplace but I doubt it.
Hopefully they will release something like they did with RB1 that let's us transfer the songs to RB2 so I can keep them all together without having to switch between different games.
i don't think i would be purchasing a new band kit, but if it works out that they make the back compat with the lego rock band, or rock band 2 i will at least pick up the game. although, there is a slight chance that some of the titles will be DLC. just like the ones that are being put on to the oddly thought PSP version of rock band. like abc by the Jackson 5, i'm literally salivating for that one. also, has anybody heard who one the rumor battle of who is going to be featuring the Ghostbusters theme as dlc, Rock Band or Guitar Hero?
Is it April fools day again?
