Konami Officially Announces Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Wiiii! What's scary and new and has had combat yanked out of its formula like fishbones from yesterday's catch? Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, which Konami has officially announced for the Wii, PS2 and PSP.
While some Silent Hill fans and other grownups may bemoan the fact that the latest entry in the Silent Hill legacy includes no combat mechanism (you can only flee), Shattered Memories may please those gamers who've been critical of the combat in previous Silent Hill games, and might be a chance to turn up the thrill dial - after all, what's scarier than being unable to do anything but run from various shambling, mist-driven horrors?
At any rate, SH: Shattered Memories isn't just Silent Hill minus the combat: an improved puzzle system and user interface bump up the action, and the all-new psych profile system changes the game based on the player's decisions. An all-new soundtrack by series composer Akira Yamaoka can't hurt, either.
"Silent Hill: Shattered Memories returns to its roots in this re-imagining of the original Silent Hill with the most interactive and frightening installment of the decade-old series," said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "With a deep storyline, eerie music and a psych profile that watches its players and evolves to expose their innermost fears throughout the game, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is sure to evoke fear in both franchise newcomers and longtime survival horror fans."
The Wii version will see the Wiimote transform into both a flashlight and a cell phone during the game, which sounds promising, while that psych profile picture sounds alluringly like the influence of Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem.

Now I'm hyped for this. I love my Wii...
This has the potential to be awesome, but... doesn't it kind of fuck up the connection to Silent Hill 3?
There´s a really nice interview on Nintendo Power magazine with the producers about what they´re planning... there are a lot of good ideas and if done well, it´ll be awesome!
SagaDarvulia: as long as they keep the good ending (where Harry escapes with the baby) or give us a similar ending, the canon will be intact.
"as long as they keep the good ending (where Harry escapes with the baby) or give us a similar ending, the canon will be intact."
Except for the timeline... The original game was supposed to take place in the 80s, but this Harry carries a very iPhone-esque mobile device.
So this is Silent Hill 1...
...with no combat...
...and waggle.
*shame*
Sometimes I really wish I didn't have a Wii.
