Xbox Live Community Watch - 3/13/09

hexy trench.jpg

This was a relatively light week for community game releases, though that may be a blessing since they will be competing with Resident Evil 5 for your playtime. A tall order for any game. But there might just be a few community games to turn your attention away from killing zombies infected Majini. Unfortunately, I have been away from home, and my Xbox 360, for the past week, and so I haven't had a chance to try out this week's games for you. Although it you're looking for recommendations, Philip Muwanga's Hexy Trench and Slam are the two I'm most excited to try out when I get back home, and ZenHak looks to have a lot of potential as a hacking (as opposed to hack 'n slash) RPG. Now let's turn to the full list so you can see all that's out there.

Philip Muwanga's Hexy Trench - 200 MS points. 'Hexy Trench' is a fast paced, multiplayer focused game for 1-4 human or AI players. Players will start with a single HQ tile and vie for control of a hexagonal based grid by placing randomly allocated trench tiles to form a trench system.

SLAM - 800 MS points. Slam is a fast-paced brick-breaking action arcade game fusing all the best elements from Breakout, Tempest and Pinball. Spin and tilt your bat around the circular 3D arena; use the magnet for total control of the ball; collect 14 types of eye-popping power-ups and smash over 20 innovative types of bricks through 100 levels of frantic fun.

ZenHak - 400 MS points. An aether packet recieved on your TransVidia starts you on your quest. Explore a MegaCity and hak your way to fortune and adventure in this futuristic RPG.

No Frills Cross Sums - 200 MS points. Challenge yourself with a game of Cross Sums, a logic-based number placement game. Thousands of unique puzzles are at your fingertips. If you like crossword puzzles or sudoku, you'll love Cross Sums!

Matchem - 200 MS points. A fun game of Memory for the whole family. Up to 4 players take turns flipping cards to find their matches. This Xbox version saves you the trouble of laying out all those rows & rows of cards on the carpet. Small grid and rumble turn indicator make it child friendly or try larger grid for more challenge. We wrote this to play with our 4 kids and hope you will enjoy it as much as we do :)

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
