Video: Punch-Out Opponents Trailer
As NaviFairy showed us last month, Nintendo has a remake of the NES and SNES classic, Punch-Out!!, coming out on the Wii on May 18th. Well yesterday the folks at Nintendo decided to release the trailer above, showing us some of the classic and new opponents Little Mac will be facing in the upcoming Wii title. I'm quite happy to see Glass Joe, King Hippo, and Von Kaiser making their reappearances in the upcoming game. There was nothing quite like punching King Hippo in his x-covered belly button. A new comer to the show that's featured in the video is the Disco Kid, who looks like a pretty boy that needs Little Mac to punch that grin off his face.
Overall, the trailer is great and let's me know that the game is definitely staying true to its predecessors. They even have the famous 'running on the street' training scene in the trailer. The game is rumored to have multiplayer, and looks to have a variety of controls schemes, from NES classic to new Wii-mote centric ones, to choose from. I have to say I'm quite excited to get my gloves on this game come May.

That's some nice animation, but I'm not entirely sold. I'm not sure how good a fighting game with a single playable character and only 3 moves can be. I was hoping the franchise would be expanded to choose characters other than Little Mac and have them all developed on their own. Instead, it just looks like they took the SNES game and made it 3D.
OK, so this isn't even the SNES Punch-Out. It's just a 3D remake of the NES Punch-Out with 2 more characters and a 2-player mode. Lame. There go my hopes that this would be something Nintendo would put EFFORT into. This game better be sold for 20 bucks or something. I can't imagine someone paying 50 bucks for a remake of a NES game that was short and simple to begin with.
This game used to scare the s*** out of me when i was little, especially Bald Bull. Jumping around! AHHHHHH! Happy to see they're finally remaking the NES version
