Tribes Coming To a Web Browser Near You

Well this is some good news. Classic online shooter Tribes is being updated and made available via web browser by the people at InstantAction.
When browser-based gaming destination first announced GarageGames' Fallen Empires: Legions, people immediately started calling it a browser-based Tribes. InstantAction would rather we call it the spiritual successor, especially now that they've got an official web-based version of Tribes on the way. The new web-based version of Tribes will feature enhanced graphics, thanks to InstantAction's powerful browser-based gaming tools, along with better modding options.
Tribes was one of the first series that really got me into online gameplay. In fact, it's the origin of my nom de plume, as it were. I'm excited to see it become available like this. Perfect for that lunchbreak at the office. InstantAction will apparently be previewing it at GDC next week.

So, I saw this story up on n4g and a few other sites, checked it out, and it definitely ISN'T tribes. It really does feel like a spiritual successor, but it's worth mentioning that the screen from tribes is not reflective of the content in the game itself. Unless I'm missing something on the keyboard, it's also only in third person and the weapons are a bit different. It only takes about 10 minutes to get it up and running and the graphics actually look a bit better than the original Tribes IMO.
Tribes isn't up there YET. It will be.
