The Beatles: Rock Band Set for Release on 9/9/09
Now here is an announcement many of have been waiting for. Harmonix and MTV Games has announced that it's Beatles project, The Beatles: Rock Band will see a worldwide release across all consoles on 9/9/09. The game will (obviously) feature many favorite Beatles hits and will come as a standalone game and as a special bundle. Standalone instruments modeled after John, George, Ringo and Paul's famous instruments will also be available. The game on its own will retail at $59.99 for all platforms (PS3, 360, Wii), the standalone guitars will be available for $99 and the premium The Beatles: Rock Band bundle will run you $249 (again for all platforms).
Personally, I am extremely excited about this title. I am a huge Beatles fan and the opportunity to get to play their songs in Rock Band will be one I will not miss. I just feel sorry for the crew responsible for picking which tracks will make it into the game. With such a large library of titles it is going to be nearly impossible to pick a list that will completely satisfy every Beatles fan. The upside to this is that most Beatles songs are fantastic so whatever the list turns out to be it will be sure to be packed with a little something for everyone. I can't wait for this game to come out, personally. This will attract both gamers and Beatles fans alike. That will only boost reviews of Rock Band.

And on the 10th anniversary of the Dreamcast, no less!
As for which songs I'd pick, there's the obvious choices like "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and "A Day in the Life", but I'm hoping for some older stuff of theirs like Elanor Rigby and some of their weirder stuff like anything from Magical Mystery Tour (actually, if Strawberry Fields Forever isn't in this I'll be shocked).
