Some Crazy Resident Evil Numbers

Everyone knows that Resident Evil 5 launched last week, but Capcom would very much like you all to know just how big of a launch that was. Capcom's headquarters in Osaka, Japan, today reported that the initial worldwide shipment of Resident Evil 5 was over four million units. This is the biggest launch of any of the Resident Evil titles to date.
These four million games shipped brings the grand total of Resident Evil games in the world to over 40 million units since the series launched in March of 1996. That's a lot of zombie killing goodness! (Even if I have to confess that I prefer my survival horror to be a little more horrifying, so the increasingly action-oriented RE series has fallen off my must-play list) Oh yeah, also, the three Resident Evil films have racked up combined sales of over 300 million bucks, and the recently-released CGI DVD release Resident Evil: Degeneration has shipped over 1.5 million copies.
See the zombies really are taking over the world!

The numbers maybe a bit exaggerated but it doesn't take the fact that RE 5 is the coolest.
