Crowning A New King Of Fighters

So was the latest Street Fighter game not really your cup of tea? Prefer your brawling to be done in two dimensions only? Well, SNK has just what you're looking for as they've announced the development of The King of Fighters XII for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 just in time for the franchise's 15th anniversary! Now, this is no 3D update of the classic 2D fighter no, this is classic 2D fisticuffs, but now in high-resolution, with detailed, hand-drawn backgrounds.
"I couldn't think of a more appropriate way to commemorate The King of Fighters' 15-Year Anniversary than with a gorgeously animated, high-definition installment that updates the KOF legacy for a new generation." said Shane Bettenhausen, New Business Development Director of Ignition Entertainment. "While other fighting games have abandoned the time-consuming process of creating beautiful 2D art, KOFXII fully embraces the refined aesthetic beauty that only human hands can produce."
SNK promises more details to come, but suggests you can check out The King Of Fighters '98: Ultimate Match for the PS2 which comes with bonus footage and content of KoFXII. But here's a selection of screenshots I found on their Japanese website.

Nice to hear KOF12 is going to be on both PS3 and 360.
Also, seeing what Shane has been up to was a nice surprise. *swoons*
Surprise, just after SF2HD...
Well, I kinda liked SF4 but at the same time I think it could've been WAY better, at least Seth doing the pile driver on Zangief or Abel is nice :-) or Zangief on Abel lol.
This. This is what SFIV SHOULD have been, right here. I mean, SFIV's gameplay is okay (it's no 3rd Strike, but then what is?), but the graphics are still godawful. If they'd done it like this? Dream come true, pretty much.
I'm buying this day 1.
Andy's forehead looks very strange.
